"I had no illusions about love... It came, it went, it left casualties or it didn't. People weren't meant to be together forever, regardless of what the songs say." Remy doesn't believe in love. And why should she? Her romance novelist mother is working on her fifth marriage, and her father, a '70s hippie singer, left her with only a one-hit wonder song to remember him by. Every time Remy hears "This Lullaby," it feels like "a bruise that never quite healed right."
Never without a boyfriend, Remy is a compulsive dater, but before a guy can go all "Ken" on her (as in "ultra boyfriend behavior") she cuts him off, without ever getting close or getting hurt.
That's why she's stunned when klutzy, quirky, alterna-band boy Dexter inserts himself into her life and refuses to leave. Remy's been accepted to Stanford, and she plans on having her usual summer fling before tying up the loose ends of her pre-college life and heading for the coast.
Except Dexter's not following Remy's tried-and-true rules of break-up protocol. And for the first time, Remy's questioning whether or not she wants him to.
Author Sarah Dessen's ability to write novels that are both crowd pleasers and literary masterpieces of YA fiction is showcased beautifully in This Lullaby. Subtle yet completely absorbing, Lullaby is peopled with breathtakingly believable, three-dimensional characters, the very best of which is the bitter, broken Remy herself. An original love story about learning to love yourself first.
Hi! So, as some of you may know, a couple weeks ago, I asked my readers' opinion about what book they would most want to win. And last week, I met the lovely author of all those lovely books... and I got you a signed copy of THIS LULLABY by Sarah Dessen!!
I know, I know, I rock.
All you have to do to enter is answer the question "How would you react if someone wrote a song about you?" in the comments!
Please leave your email addresses! This contest is open to U.S. residents only (sorry international and Canadian readers!)

OMG, a signed copy of This Lullaby. It really doesn't get much better. Thanks for having such an awesome contest. As for the question, it depends what the song said about me. If it was a love or nice song by someone I loved or liked then I'd be totally gaga or flattered over it. If it was a love song by someone I didn't know, I'd feel a little creeped out. :P If it was a bad song saying bad things about me, I'd be totally pissed and who knows what I might do. lol.

I suppose I'd be flattered if someone wrote a song about me, but I probably wouldn't have much of a reaction.

Actually someone HAS written a song about me. Unfortunately, he's an ex-boyfriend and i'm sure the song is none-too-nice. I haven't heard it. He's posted pictures of himself singing it on Myspace. Good thing he is part of some band in Austen that is going nowhere, probably because he heads it and he's tonedeaf. Not saying that to be mean, it's just the truth.
It's sad. I don't have a real song in my head right now. For some reason the music in the Harry Potter #5 movie is going through my head and has been for two days. I wish it would get out!!

I would be surprised. I guess it depends on who but it'll be really sweet.

How I would react would depend on who wrote it. I'd be embarrassed either way, but I could be mortified or all *squeeeeee* too. It also depends on what the song says too; I wouldn't be best pleased if it said "Jo's a loser".

While I want to preface my answer with something along the lines of 'as long as it weren't some "I hate you" song or someone stalking me'...part of me thinks it would be cool no matter what the situation was ;) But maybe I'm a crazy person or something
and I was going to say Black or White was stuck in my head (it has been) for the +3 but on my little internet readio Don't Speak just started and I love that song so chances are now that song will be stuck in my head :D

And the song that is stuck in my head is Beat It by MJ.

I've had many people write a song about me actually. Depending on the contex and the person, it can make me react many different ways. When my did wrote me a song when I was baby, it was so cute. Not that I remember it from them but he's played it for me and I cry(: When my creepy ex-boyfriend keeps writing my songs after I broke up with him for cheating on me, I wanna slap him really hard. When my on-again-off again boyfriend did it the first time, I truly fell in love.

and it was absolutley beautiful.
It was my ex-boyfriend and weirdly enough he had a quirky name too- Earl:) I miss him just thinking about it:(
When he sang it for me the first time my heart nearly leaped out of my chest and fell onto the floor.

If someone wrote a song about me... well I don't know how I would react...
If it was a bad song about me... I think I would have to hunt down the jerk and kick his butt, bless his heart....
If it was a cool song about me... I would have to share it with all my friends and secretly dance to it in my room...
If it was a romantic song about me...
well I think I would just about cry my eyes out, kiss the guy (if it was a guy), marry the guy, and die happy... all the while listening to it on my iPod until it made me sick.
Because I LOVE music so much, it would be epic to have a song about me... however, a little embarrassing also...

I am ashamed to say that I have never read anything by Sarah Dessen. From reading the back cover of This Lullaby on Amazon.com she seems like an amazing author. Well enough of my rambling, now to answer your question. If someone wrote a song about me, I think I'd always be like why? Well of course after I thank them so much. However, my full reaction depends on who wrote it. If it were a family member I'd be all touched and ask them to write down the lyrics so I could keep it forever. If it were from some guy from school or something I'd probably be totally embarrassed and red faced, but extremely welcome. I mean if he has the time to write a song about me then I'd be completely lucky right? I'd probably write a letter or poem as a thank you saying how much the song meant to me and then ask why he wrote a song about me. So yeah I hope that this answers your question. Lol yes I think I would be totally red faced because it would be really nice.
